Welcome to Lucille's Gardens

Lucille Forgione Hoell, M.G., Lecturer, and Owner of Lucille’s Gardens, received her certificate in Floral Design from BOCES in 1986, and became a Cornell Cooperative Extension Master Gardener in 1988.  Sharing her knowledge with others has become a life’s joy for Lucille.

Lucille is currently on the speakers’ list for District II of the Federated Garden Clubs of New York State. She has completed a number of their courses, including the six design-study unit lessons on Basic Flower Arranging, and all five of the Judges' Schools on design and horticulture.

Mrs. Hoell has given flower arranging workshops and horticultural presentations for over 23 years for Cornell Cooperative Extension, as well as for garden clubs and other organizations throughout Suffolk County. Known locally as “The Plant Lady,” Lucille’s vibrant personality comes alive when she speaks of gardening and flower arranging.

In keeping with her goal of sharing her joy of gardening, Lucille began a "Learn While you Earn" program. She employs local teenagers to help her plant and maintain the wonderful plants, trees, and shrubs in her gardens.  Many of the teens have acquired a real interest in horticulture from Lucille's teachings, and she's gratified to help foster the next generation of gardeners.
